August Devo-The Past

Okay so I'm switching this devo up a little. This time, rather than sharing a Bible verse with you, I'm going to share a little poem I wrote =) It talks about how we make mistakes, and the only way to really make it through (and have) life is through the Father. It's called "Lead Me To You."

Lead Me To You
Standing at the crossroads trying to make up my mind
Dare i take left, or should i go right?
One path leads to destruction
The other to new life
And I'm going to change mine, starting tonight.

Im sick of who I was
I dont want this to be
Father will you come
And rescue me?
I'm tired of all I do
I'm crying out in mercy
I need your love and grace
Father lead me to You.

We all have things from our past
That we would rather forget
It brought me a relationship to last.
So I won't bring myself to regret
The decisions i've made;
It is with You I will always stay

---------------------------------------------------------

So in light of that, I just want to say this: the past is the past. It's not easy to let go or give up, but it needs to be done. Use the mistakes you've made in the past to show you the future. Your future. With the Father.

Transformers!

Last night I was having a hard time falling asleep. One of the things that came to mind for some reason, was the devotion for this month. And for some reason, what came to mind is the image of Christ. Ya know, people were first CALLED Christians at Antioch; it was brought to my attention that they didnt name themselves. they were called that. Which means people could see Christ through their actions. That's a very important thing, to uphold the image of Christ. Probably one of the main religions on Myspace is "Christian-other". People put that, but then you look at their pictures or something, and you start second-guessing their so-called "religion." (which FYI: Christianity isnt a religion, it's a relationship.)
So everyone's been hyped up about the new Transformers movie. When we get saved, we should be turned into a transformer. The only difference is, we cant (or shouldnt) go back to the way we were. It's talked about in Romans 12:1-2:

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Like i said earlier when i was having trouble sleeping, I thought about what I think the closest thing to representing God or Jesus here on earth. The very first thing i came to was a soldier. Soldiers die for their families and friends, their country and freedom. They die not only for those things, but people who hate them. It kills me to see people call themselves "Christians" and protest at a soldier's funeral. They say they love God, but they don't really show it.
There's a song called The Difference by Philmont. And basically what it's saying is, if you truly have God in your life, it shows. It has to show. Otherwise no one will believe you or listen to you.

So I wanna know, what do you think represents Christ here on earth? I still think it's a Soldier: someone who's not afraid to stand for what he believes in, even if it means death.

Last year we had a tshirt give away!
This year you have to earn your prize!
Read the info below if you're interested!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As most FF5 fans would know, the first Dance RAWR Dance tour took place in 2006. Well, during that tour, FF5 had a chalk drawing contest. This is how all of their chalk drawing contests started. So in honor of the chalk drawing contest, i want to have a chalk drawing contest for our site, since we are the Dance[RAWR]Dancers! In light of that here are some rules you must follow to qualify:

1. Must include Dance[RAWR]Dancers or DRDers
2. Must use CHALK ONLY! nothing else
3. Can be big or small, on a sidewalk or cardboard
4. We like bright colors =) traditional DRD colors include blue, yellow, and pink
5. Must be sent in by July 19.
6. Take a picture, upload it Photobucket (or another image hosting site), and send it to us in a message. Be sure to include your gangsta name

Here's how this will work:
On July 20, we will have all the pictures uploaded to our fansite under the contest album. You can vote for your own, or others, as many times as you like. Tell your friends to add us and vote for your drawing. If you tell your friend to add us, tell them to send a message in the little yellow box letting us know you recommended them. For every friend you get to add us, we will post an extra vote on your drawing. Voting is unlimited and will last from 7/20-7/30. On July 31 we will announce the winner. The picture with the most votes wins.

The Prize:
Most likely the prize will probably be another tshirt. We will ship it to the winner shortly after the contest is over. We dont have the prize finalized, but like i said, the easiest thing for us to is a tshirt. This will be a custom tshirt for our site.

Where to vote:
You can vote here, or www.myspace.com/letsdancecontest

June Devo-Fight For Love

ok so on my FF5 fansite, Dance[RAWR]Dancers, i do a devotion every month, and i will be posting them on myspace as well as on here for anyone else who wants to read them =) i started these back in September, so if you want to see the previous ones you'll have to visit our blogs on our myspace. but starting with June you will be able to see them on both sites =)

So i've been thinking lately about how much a song can impact a person. Music is something that really connects to the soul. You know there's something powerful when your mom starts crying listening to a rap song by T-Bone in the middle of a concert (that's a whole different story though). My point is, different music and songs can identify a tough situation that we've been through. It speaks words when we are speechless. So when i was trying to think of something to right about this month, i thought what better way than to incorporate a song. Actually, i let my itunes do the choosing by putting it on shuffle. The song it came up with was "Fight For Love" by Disciple. If you want to read the lyrics, click here.
Proverbs 29:7 says, "The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern." This verse and this song go right along with each other. There are people who are ignorant, and dont know the difference from right and wrong. Some people dont have the ability, or they've never been taught. We (Christians) have been called by God to teach these people. If someone doesnt stand up for them, who will? we need to be examples of God, showing His love to others through our thoughts and actions. If you see someone being bullied, would you just walk by, or would you step in and intervene? We would all like to think we'd be the hero that stops it, but how could you really know until you're in that situation? I'd like to conclude with this: Don't expect people to come your way looking for help; be the one who looks for the helpless, the defenseless. Most of the time someone who is in need, is too afraid or shy to say so. Crack the shell and show God's love =)
